The market success as well as effective performance of various social tasks – resulting from the role of promoter of health – requires continuous improvement of professional competencies. This is a profession that requires extensive interdisciplinary knowledge, that is very rapidly outdated. One of the relatively rarely used sources of knowledge – in institutional training, directed professional development, updating and extension of professional competence – are specialized magazines focused on current trends in a particular branch. Aim. Showing the significant role of professional journals in promoting promoters, health educators – in the context of contemporary developing sources of knowledge and causes of its regression was the main objective of this study. Results. There is a problem of the quality of this press, and above all, there is a crisis, among others. attitudes towards permanent education or resulting from the choice of information sources or content selection – unlimited knowledge resources, contained in open access online. Unfortunately, free-market mechanisms limit the development of sector press and thus affect the reduction of its quality; lowering quality which results directly from the financing sources for this tye of activity. Conclusions. There is certainly the need for professional content, that ensures high substantive level of journals supporting and integrating the environment of promoters and health educators. The expert supervision over this kind of periodicals is also needed.
