Introduction. Subject's responsibility for improving one's health by focusing on one's lifestyle and pro-health activities is emphasized more and more often nowadays. Aim of the study. Assessment of pro-health activities and differences between them among cancer patients. Material and methods. The research was conducted on the group of 100 cancer patients. Diagnostic poll method, survey technique was used when conducting this study. Health Behavior Inventory (HBI) by Zygfryd Juczyński was the research tool. STATISTICA 12 and Microsoft Office Excel were used to analyze the gathered data. Statistical significance of p < 0.05 was assumed which indicated statistically important differences or correlations. Results. Activities undertaken by most cancer patients were on the average level. The respondents scored the best in proper eating habits category and the worst in health practices category. There was a statistically important correlation between scores from health practices category from Health Behavior Inventory and time of diagnosis. Pro-health activities were undertaken more often by people who had relapse. Type of cancer, illness duration, undergoing preventive examinations, suffering from coexisting diseases, family history of disease had no significant influence on the differences between undertaken pro-health activities. Conclusions. Undertaking pro-health activities allows one to maintain good psychophysical condition, not only among cancer patients but among the rest of the population as well.
