The impact of pregnancy and delivery at the libido, mood and appetite – retrospective analysis

Introduction. There are reports dealing with the effects of pregnancy and childbirth at the libido. In contrast, few authors moves on the impact of pregnancy associated with changes in mood and appetite decline needs and sexual response. The paper attempts to analyze the issue. Material and methods. They analyzed (asking retrospectively) as changed needs and sexual responses in the evaluation of 52 sexually active women from the period before pregnancy, during pregnancy and the postpartum period – women were asked how to evaluate their needs and sexual responses before pregnancy, during pregnancy and after pregnancy assigning each with the needs and sexual response assessment by 5-point scale (from 0 to 4, where 0 is the low score 4 – high score). The women were also asked about changes in mood and appetite. The study included women 19–30 years old, who have given birth once, vaginally, pregnancy and childbirth without complications. Results. Top women libido was assessed before pregnancy, while the lowest rated orgasms night, in each of the periods studied. Discussion. Women expressed the need for the highest sex before pregnancy and willingly then they are trying different sexual positions. During the medical history investigated reported a decrease in sexual desire, reduction of sexual positions, depressed mood, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy and the postpartum period. Women reported a history of medical disorders appetite induced nausea and vomiting, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. Eating disorders and mood changes may be associated with decreased sex drive.
