Fraza do cytowania: Celińska-Janowicz K., Zaręba I., Drągowski P., Teul J., Sawczuk R., Kazberuk A., Rysiak E., Miltyk W. Silver nanoparticles and their application in medicine. Polski Przegląd Nauk o Zdrowiu. 2017;3(52):385–389.

The progress of nanotechnology radically changes the way of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of various diseases. Among all the nanoparticles used, silver nanoparticiples are one of the most relevant and fascinating nanomaterials. Numerous studies have shown their biological, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. The potential use of silver nanoparticle is predominantly focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. How-ever, it is required to test silver nanoparticles on animal models to confirm the mechanism of their action of and to obtain the whole picture of their biocompatibility and toxicity.

Key words: nanotechnology, silver nanoparticles, antineoplastic therapy.
