Introduction. The period of menopause and senium may cause pelvic organ prolapse; approximately 50% of women in this period of life are affected by this phenomena. Even tough within the ethological aspects hypoestrogenism plays an important role here, it has to be stressed that the reasons for pelvic organ prolapse may have the following various reasons. Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when weakened pelvic muscles allow the bladder, uterus or rectum to “fall” or sink into the vagina. Pelvic organ prolapse is an uncomfortable condition very often connected with urinary incontinence – it is uroginekological problem and sexuological problem too. Patients may experience pressure, pain and the sensation of something falling out of their vagina or rectum. Aim of the study. Research of the needs and sexual reactions of women suffering from pelvic organ prolapse and inconsistence. Material and methods. For the reason of this research the needs and sexual reactions of 48 sexually active patients have been study; these patients were in the period of menopause, had pelvic organ prolapse and incontinence. The patients consulted their physician regularly; within these consultations sexualogical aspects have been taken into consideration. The patients voluntarily underwent the study (questionnaire), which especially took into consideration their needs and sexual reactions. Results. The findings of the study indicated that a proper medical treatment and a further gynecological treatment allow the patients realizing their sexual needs – the patients showed and increase interest in sexual contacts and wanted to try out various sexual techniques. Conclusion. Pelvic organ prolapse and urological disturbances can be seen as a serious medical (urological and sexualogical) as well as a sociological problem. Women suffering from this problem may realize their sexual needs by applying a proper urological and sexuological treatment.
