Fraza do cytowania: Błajda J., Barnaś E., Pieniążek A. Role of mobile medical applications in the prophylaxis of selected diseases. Polski Przegląd Nauk o Zdrowiu. 2017;1(50):107–114.

At present mobile medical apps are a rapidly growing trend in telemedicine. These tools are more and more often used in health care, e.g. as a diagnostic and treatment support in remote collection of data about patients’ condition, in preventing contagious diseases and in health education. Because of their worldwide accessibility and the widespread distribution channels, such tools may be helpful in the prophylaxis of numerous diseases. On the other hand easy access to such tools poses certain risks. These are mainly associated with poor reliability and accuracy of the stored data, therefore it is necessary to increase the public’s awareness related to the principles of using relevant medical applications.

Key words: prophylaxis, eHealth, medical apps, mobile devices, smartphone.
