Motives to choose the study of electroradiology and expectations related to the work

Introduction. Intensive development of medical science in recent years has made a huge role began to play the new branches of education, educating qualified personnel capable of efficiently help the patient. Electroradiology is the direction educating competent medical staff, which can perform wide range of diagnostic tests and therapeutic radiation. Aim. The aim of the study was to ascertain the reasons for the selection electroradiology and expectations relating to the profession among students towards. Material and methods. The study was managed by survey method using proprietary questionnaire on group of Radiography students of Medical University of Bialystok. Statistica 10 program was used for statistical analysis. Results. The majority (86.67%) students declared a conscious choice direction. The main cause of choice was interest in medical subjects. The majority of students after graduation would like to work in CT room (n = 74; 18,2%), MRI room (n = 72; 17,7%) and X-ray room (n = 51; 12,5%). One of the respondents did not want to link its future with radiographer profession. Average choice electroradiology was 6.30. Those who choose the answer I did not pass to another „dream” direction found statistically lower levels of satisfaction (p = 0.024). Average expected salary is 3113,45 PLN. Conclusions. Interest in subjects related with medicine turned out to be the most common reason for choosing elekctroradiology. Motives of choice this field of study by graduates was similar in reference. Students’ expectations regarding earnings exceed the real salaries in health care.
