Introduction. Problems with auditory processing may contribute to abnormalities of many areas of life. Tomatis’ training by increasing auditory awareness can influence improvement of development in many spheres of life. Aim. The aim of the analysis was to investigate the subjective opinion of parents about the effects of the Tomatis’ method of their children and to provide knowledge about the areas of child development, where the biggest changes have occurred. Material and methods. The study involved 33 parents whose children participated in training of auditory attention in Poznan Tomatis Centre. The first stage of training consisted of 15 meetings (two hours per day), for a total of 30 hours of treatment. The second stage consisted of 8 meetings, 15 hours of training . Between the first and second stage was a break for 4–8 weeks. On the last day of the second stage of children’s parents were asked to complete the “parent subjective evaluation.” Results. Most of the breast cancer survivors correctly indicated the risk factors of the disease (oral contraceptives, childlessness or first pregnancy after age 34, late menopause, early menarche, hormonal imbalance), as opposed to the healthy females (statistically significant). The vast majority of both groups (86% survivors, 92% healthy) knew that BRCA mutation carriage increases the chances of developing cancer. Conclusions. The vast majority children’s parents observed positive changes in development in many areas of functioning. Tomatis attention auditory training method therefore affects the overall support the child’s development of intellectual capacity through the development of communication, willing to active participation in social contacts. Further studies are needed to for verification of results and new hypotheses.
