Introduction. Epidemiological studies conducted over the last decade made it possible to prove the fact that the subject is a problem not only medically and economically, but also socially. The role of emotional support in the care of dialysis patients is important at every stage of the disease and its acceptance. Aim. The aim of the study is to assess the quality of life of patients on dialysis in Tarnów and to identify factors that affect their quality of life. Material and methods. The scope of work includes a theoretical part, drawn up on the basis of a review of the literature and research, characterized by a description of the study patients in the department of internal medicine and nephrology with dialysis center in the Provincial Hospital. St. Luke’s in Tarnow and Dialysis Specialist Hospital in them. Edward Szczeklik in Tarnów and a group of healthy subjects drawn randomly from among healthy population in Żabno. Results. To the objectives of the research were used 3 questionnaire. Conclusions. After the analysis of the study it can be concluded that chronically ill persons dialyzed extensively felt the impact of the disease and of therapy to psychosocial sphere of life. The most common problems were restrictions life, reduced willingness to meet with friends and deteriorating physical health.
